“Ready to Dance” times are when rehearsal actually begins. You must be ready to dance at that time. Performers must be present 30 minutes before the rehearsal in order to costume and prepare. We understand that there are students who are dismissed from school later and are unable to ask for an early dismissal. Please arrive as quickly as possible, and do your hair and makeup in the car.

We will try very hard to be on time as much as possible, but this is a rehearsal, and can be unpredictable. We have far fewer required rehearsals than any other NUTCRACKER. Please understand if we are running somewhat off schedule – we’ll do the very best we can, but we must get it right!

Before you read any further, please make note of this very important information.  Even if your  your dancer is not in costume, or whether or not they may have finished their particular dance, they are to remain in the rehearsal location paying close attention. No screens, homework….nothing but attention to the rehearsal. There may be staging or spacing changes…..lots of things can be adjusted. We will dismiss your complete group when they are all finished for the day.

COSTUMES, HAIR AND MAKEUP

  • Costumes:  For the three days of rehearsal, red and green casts will rehearse in costume at different times.  All other dancers should be in dancewear (leotard, tights, ballet shoes), with hair done properly.
  • Hair and Make up:  Proper hair but no make-up for the Saturday rehearsal.  Proper hair and full make-up for Sunday and Thursday, except no ringlets or curls needed for Thursday (see note below).
  • Ringlets and Curls: Ringlets and curls are needed for dancers that require them on Saturday and Sunday, but not Thursday because we understand most dancers will be coming straight from school.  Dancers requiring ringlets and curls must have all hair in front of the ears pulled back into a half ponytail (we call it “half up/half down”). The ponytail should have a piece of the dancer’s hair from underneath the ponytail wrapped around the hair elastic, then bobby pinned in place, so that all you see is the dancer’s hair.  If you do not know how to do it, ask any mom who already has done them.  You’ll soon be an expert!

  • NO FOOD OR DRINK OTHER THAN CLEAR WATER ALLOWED IN:

o   ANY STUDIO,

o   IN THE THEATER OR THEATER DRESSING ROOM,
